The duplicate of your professionally restored old or antique photo will be done when I know for sure that there is nothing else possible to further improve it. That is my promise to you! Most pictures that have been skillfully restored are better than their original version.
This 40 year old picture was found in a shed near the main building. The original size was 24" x 20". At the end of the restoration process the Photoshop file was up to 1.56 GB on the HD.
The original picture had holes, an uncountable amount of cracks in the surface (on the image here not noticeable), a sticker at the right bottom and hardly any colors left. The restoration-process was very time-consuming. Clouds were added, the 5 cars in the front were colorized and to the left of the building in the front the US-flag was added.
This damaged old photo did not particularly pose too many challenges. The problematic areas of course was fitting the torn pieces back together and recreating the missing parts. Focus was obviously the face but also the dark object at right side of the image. The yellowing of the picture also was removed.
Tremendous help here was that the actual dresses still were owned by the family. I was given them to scan them and was able to create the same exact color of the cloths the 2 girls in the picture were wearing. That pole in the background had to be removed simply due to aesthetically reasons.
"Basic restoration of an old yellowed black & white photo". Removal of a stain, possibly water, on the hair as well as repairing damage at the edges of the image. The face was lightened up since it was too dark in the original picture.
I remember the owner saying the 2 little boys were his uncles. Dimensions of the original image were approximately 17" x 24". Challenge here was that the glass was not plain but convex and the painting was partially stuck to the glass. It also had the convex shape of the glass. That had to be taken into consideration while repairing the old photo. The detail when zoomed in almost looked like it was air brushed. Age of the original picture around 100 years.
The original photo got damaged after a suitcase – with the picture inside – fell of a car as it drove away from the families home because they had to move. Another car ran over the suitcase. Luckily the damage was not too bad.
This gentleman told me the woman in that picture was his mother. This photo of her was the only one he had of her. At one point it got damaged somehow and he tried to fix it with a piece of tape but he positioned it wrong. As he tried to readjust the tape he damaged the fragile photo even more.
"Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Class of 1939". This old image had several issues. Not just 1 image but 114 of them plus fold in the middle of the original picture as well as the type font at bottom center were the challenges here. Each individual photography was retouched and a golden border was added. They were all horizontally aligned and the spacing between them was made equal. Quite a nice but time consuming project.
For this restoration project I searched online for the military symbols on the sleeve of the man, I was able to find the exact one with original colors. After granted permission the bigger sea horse was replaced with a nicer looking one.
After successfully fixing and restoring this old photo of two sisters the owner of the picture could not believe how beautiful and intense the colors looked. She was extremely happy.
Each individual image was given the same oval shape, the distances between the images were made the same here, contrast was added, scratches removed. This was more or less a basic restoration project.
The family never knew that in this photo their great grandfather was reading the newspaper or looking at a map of some sort. In the restored photo he can clearly be seen in the background.
This marine was on a tour, crossing the Atlantic Ocean as his boat hit a mine. He and many of his fellow marines lost their lives that day in World War II.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
The family gave me 2 original pictures. The larger one thankfully had less damage than the smaller one. At the same time it did not lack in detail or sharpness so it was a great candidate for this restoration project.

After the family moved to a new home the photo has not been found for a while. When it was discovered the children, now grown up, decided to have it restored as a Christmas present to their mother. In 2017 they searched online for photo restoration services but only found some in California. It was decided that it might not be best to send the original picture not knowing if they would get it back safe. Thankfully this year A1Retouching came up as a GOOGLE search result for them. The 10" x 13" size picture required approximately 40 hours of restoration time, it was at times quite challenging.
